Information You Send
Search terms
A name, location, or other text entered into a search box is sent to the third-party provider that operates that tool. Transylvania County Busted Mugshots does not store or log those search terms on its own systems.
Messages
Email and contact-form messages may be kept so a reply can be sent. They are not shared outside the organization unless disclosure is required by law.
Technical Data and Cookies
Each page request may produce ordinary technical information.
- IP address
- Browser name and version
- Device type and operating system
- Pages visited and time spent
- Referring site, if supplied
- Request timestamps
Cookies
Cookies may help measure how visitors use the service. Browser settings can block them, although some features may behave differently when they are disabled.
How Information Is Used
Collected information may be used to:
- Keep the pages operating and responsive.
- Send search requests to the right partner service.
- Learn which pages are useful.
- Find and repair technical faults.
- Display advertising that may reflect general interests.
Links to Other Services
Pages link to the Transylvania County Sheriff, its jail and booking application, North Carolina courts, NCDAC, and federal locators. Once a visitor follows a link, the destination’s own privacy notice controls. The same applies to outside search providers. Advertising partners may track activity across different sites on their own systems.
Who May Receive Data
Personal data is not sold by this service. It may be received by the following parties:
- Search partners that process submitted queries.
- Analytics services that measure use.
- Advertising networks.
- Law-enforcement or government bodies acting under a valid legal order.
The linked Sheriff’s Office and North Carolina court information are separate public systems, not recipients controlled by this service.
Security Limits
Reasonable standard safeguards are used, but no internet-connected system is fully secure. No promise is made that information will be breach-proof or safe from every unauthorized event.
Visitors Under 18
This service is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. A parent or young person may contact the service to request deletion of information submitted by a minor.
Your Privacy Choices
Subject to applicable law, a person may ask for:
- A copy of personal data held about them.
- Correction of inaccurate information.
- Deletion of information.
- An opt-out from certain processing.
Send a request through the Get in Touch page. A request about a county booking, court record, or state offender record must also go to the originating custodian.

This notice may be revised as practices or legal requirements change. The updated version takes effect when posted here, with a new effective date when one is supplied.
